Betsy: Hello, Mercury. I killed a man this morning. When I asked if we should kill Sack for attacking you and your friends, you said “No.” You’ve lost your family, your friends have died, you’ve been torn apart by our enemies… and you still wouldn’t kill Sack. Hold on to that. Whatever this life may take from you, never let it take away who you are. Hold on to yourself with everything you’ve got. Cess: I don’t understand. Are.. are you okay?Betsy: …It’s been a difficult few years. And unlike you, I did lose myself. But the man I killed today, I killed him for the right reasons. If there is such a thing.Cess: Did you find what you were looking for?Betsy: It’s a start.

Psylocke #4 (2010)
I’ve posted this scene months ago, but this time I actually wanted to talk about it because it’s one of my favorites. Cessily only appeared twice, but her presence was still significant. Betsy in the beginning of issue #1 chastised Cess for showing mercy to an enemy. And Betsy throughout most of the story was hellbent on killing Matsu’o for taking her life away, ends up showing mercy to him, when she realizes what a dark path she’s going down. (leaving a few details out) But she still ends up killing him when she discovers Wolverine had been torturing Matsu’o & taking off his limbs away every year on the anniversary of Mariko’s death. But she kills him, not in the act of revenge which was something she was after for a long time, but instead to end Matsu’o’s suffering, and that’s what she means when she says “But the man I killed today, I killed him for the right reasons. If there is such a thing”.
And I love this moment, because it’s small and quiet. And Betsy also talks about reasons I love Cessily so much. She’s always seeing the good in things and trying to hold onto who she is. And I like for Betsy, that she’s trying to find herself again. The whole story was pretty dark and grim, which what you can expect normally from Chris Yost, but this ending had some light to it. And of course, I love two of my favorites who wouldn’t normally share scenes together, interacting here.
